CCTV: Jiangsu dropped Windows 8 earlier this year

China’s Jiangsu province dropped purchases of computers running Microsoft’s (MSFT.NASDAQ) Windows 8 software in February following a notification from the central government, Bloomberg reported, citing an assertive report by China’s state-run broadcaster CCTV entitled “Our Government Says  ‘No’ to Windows 8.” Last month, China’s Central Government Procurement Center excluded Windows 8 from a purchase of energy-efficient computers. Reprimands against US tech firms have been escalating since US prosecutors indicted five Chinese military offices of economic espionage last month. The report was also the latest of several CCTV attacks on successful Western brands in China.
