Grand opening for China's largest eco-theme hotel

July 13, 2009

Chimelong Hotel in GuangzhouThe new Chimelong Hotel in Guangzhou, China's largest eco-theme hotel, has now been officially opened. Note that this follows the curious habit of hotels operating for a period — in this case six months — in what is called a soft opening. No, Virginia, the official ceremony is not called a hard opening. It is an official opening.
Located close to Chimelong Paradise, Chimelong Water Park, Chimelong Xiangjiang Safari Park and Chimelong International Circus — guests will be easy to keep amused — the 360,000-square-meter hotel has 1,500 guest rooms which is pretty enromous. As it is also an eco-hotel you might think of it as the Jolly Green Giant.
Guests staying there can enjoy one-stop services for hotel accommodation, circus performances and international cuisine.

China Travel reports this is very much a MICE hotel taken to its logical limits.

For example, the hotel's brand new convention center is said to be the largest in south China — covering an area of 30,000 square meters. The convention hall is equipped with hi-tech facilities and can also be 36 flexible multi-function rooms that can cater for meetings, seminars and banquets.
