US President Obama started his annual State of the Union address on February 12, 2013 by quoting John F. Kennedy, who declared fifty-one years ago that “the Constitution makes us not rivals for power but partners for progress.”In this important speech, the US President emphasized that his “first priority is making America a magnet for new jobs and manufacturing”. Obama added that “to boost American exports, support American jobs, and level the playing field in the growing markets of Asia, we intend to complete negotiations on a Trans-Pacific Partnership”.

China Economic Review has invited Professor Laurent Estachy to share his perspective on the US-Chinese economic relationships.The presentation will deal with the so-called “pivot to Asia” US strategy and try to assess some of the key related financial and economic issues.

Laurent Estachy, professor of global finance, Euromed Management, Doctor of Universite Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNSA), Executive MBA. His researches included capital market, enterprise’s finance, business administration and international economy. Prior to being full-time professor, he was the vice president of Dutch Bank with more than 10 years banking experience.
