China's exports to the US rose by 4.3 per cent year-on-year in the first 10 month of 2001 to US$45.18bn, People's Daily said. However, growth was faster in the earlier part of the year and exports in October were only US$4.87bn, US$380m less than in September.

The US was China's largest foreign market in 2000, taking 21 per cent of its total exports. China's figures exclude re-exports through Hong Kong, while the US figures include such Chinese-made goods.
