Foreign firms among top exporters

Foreign-invested firms in China accounted for 35 of the country's top 100 exporters in 2001, according to customs figures quoted by South China Morning Post.

Finnish telecoms equipment manufacturer Nokia held the top spot among foreign exporters, with a total of US$2.1bn-worth of products from its three Chinese subsidiaries. Motorola held the record for the highest volume from one individual branch, Tianjin, which generated exports worth US$1.6bn.
