Vice-president arrives in the US

Vice-President Hu Jintao left for an eightday visit to the US last month. The man widely tipped to become the next president of China was due to hold talks with US President George W Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney. Hu's objectives were to convey to the US China's foreign policies and its stance on Taiwan, to discuss anti-terrorism issues and to advance Sino-US ties.
