Increase in anti-dumping cases

China has carried out 19 anti-dumping investigations since 1997 and imposed additional import duties ranging from 4 to 78 per cent in six cases, Xinhua reported. The six cases covered products from the chemical, chemical fibre, steel, paper-making and light industries sectors. The figures were revealed by Wang Shichun, head of the fair trade bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation.
He added that seven of the 19 cases had been handled since China signed the protocol for accession to the World Trade Organisation in November last year. Also since then, the ministry had received 12 applications for anti-dumping suits.
