Korean Air has added four new China destinations to its network - Jinan, Yantai, Xiamen and Shanghai. The increase in services is in response to a surge in the number of air travellers between China and South Korea - from 588,000 in 1998 to 1.615m last year.

Japan Airlines launched a service between Tokyo and Xiamen last month, bringing the number of its China-bound routes to seventeen. Flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. All Nippon Airway launched the first service between the two cities in April this year.
