An unfinished hotel in Xiamen was among the assets of the alleged smuggling leader Lai Changxing that were auctioned by order of the Communist Party's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. The money raised from the auction will go towards repaying debts that Lai and his Yuan Hua group owe to the state. Last month, Lai lost his appeal for refugee status in Canada
