Chinese firms win dumping case

Four Chinese windshield producers have won their appeal against anti-dumping tariffs imposed by Canada, China Daily said. The tariffs were imposed in response to a complaint lodged last December by Canada's leading windshield producer that dumped imports of laminated windshields were damaging the domestic industry.
After hearing the appeal in May, the Canadian customs agency ruled that the replacement windshield industry in China was operating under market conditions and that the calculation of dumping margins should be based on prices in the Chinese market. As a result, weighted average tariffs have been lifted from windshields produced by three of the Chinese companies, Shenzhen Benxun Automotive Glass, Xinyi Automotive Glass (Shenzhen) and Dongguan Kongwan Automobile Glass, and reduced on the fourth, Fujian Fuyao Glass Industry Group.
The newspaper hailed the decision as a breakthrough in China's fight against antidumping charges, saying that this was the first time a North American country had acknowledged that a Chinese industry was operating under market conditions.
