Taipei-Fujian restrictions relaxed

Businesspeople from Taiwan's main island will now be able to sail directly to Fujian province, following a relaxation of travel regulations by the government in Taipei. Previously, only residents of the two smaller islands Kinmen and Matsu could sail directly to the mainland. All other Taiwanese had to first pass through a foreign port or airport, such as Hong Kong or Macau.

The new ruling applies to businesspeople with Taiwanese-approved investments or business ventures in Fujian. Their family members may also apply to make such a trip.
