Ticket prices rise 6 per cent

Air ticket prices rose 6 per cent in October as the Civil Aviation Administration of China increased the oil tax to compensate airlines for rising international oil prices. A normal air ticket from Beijing to Shanghai increased from Yn970 to Yn1,020, said China Daily.
China introduced a 15 per cent fuel tax back in late 2000 to help airlines but reduced the tax to 8 per cent earlier this year as oil prices weakened. The money raised by the oil tax is distributed to domestic airlines.
