Universal focuses on Beijing

Universal Studios has signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese travel company to look at the possibility of building a theme park in Beijing. Duan Qiang, the chairman of the mainland company Beijing Tourism Group, said the two parties were seeking central government approval to build a US$900m theme park on a 300-hectare site in the capital. Previous reports said that Shanghai and Shenzhen were also in talks with Universal to build theme parks.
