1 January 2003

Japanese electronics firm Canon said it plans to set up its own distribution network in China for spare parts for its office equipment. At present, products take over a week to be delivered within China from the company's manufacturing facilities in Shenzhen and Suzhou.

Under the planned system, they would be held in regional depots and then sent on by road when ordered. A local transportation company set up by Mitsubishi in 2001 would handle truck delivery and the loading and unloading of Canon products.
