Plasma plant for Nanjing

LG Electronics of South Korea has signed an agreement with the city government of Nanjing, Jiangsu province, to build a wholly owned plant to produce plasma digital panels (PDPs) used in colour televisions. A company spokesman said that the plant, due to start production in October this year, would later be expanded into the biggest PDP plant in the world. Shanghai Business said that US$70m would be invested in the plant, which would be capable of producing 240,000 panels a year. LG already has a PDP factory in Shenyang, Liaoning province, which produces 30,000 panels a year.
