Guangdong leads in furniture exports

Exports of furniture from Guangdong province totalled US$2.73bn in 2002, 30 per cent more than in 2001, Xinhua said. The amount accounted for 51 per cent of China's total furniture exports last year. Exports to the US were worth US$1.37bn, 47 per cent higher than in 2002, while exports to EU countries stood at US$243m, a year-on-year increase of 29 per cent. At the end of 2002 Guangdong had 2,684 furniture-exporting enterprises, up from 2,206 at the end of 2001.
