Neighbours close borders

Most countries have placed some form of restriction on travel by Chinese as a result of the Sars outbreak, according to a report by AFP. In May, Russia closed some of its border crossings in the far east, having already banned most flights to China. Overland crossings to Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Nepal have been closed, while Vietnam is installing thermal-imaging machines at two border checkpoints. North Korea and Uzbekistan have suspended air links. In addition, many countries have said they will not issue visas during the outbreak.
