The Sheraton Dongguan in Guangdong province is due for soft opening at the end of this month. The 413-room hotel will contain five restaurants and will be the largest hotel in the city. It is under one hour from Guangzhou international airport, 30 minutes from Shenzhen airport, and there is a 90-minute ferry service to Hong Kong and Macau

Meanwhile the Sheraton, owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, has taken over the management of a five-star resort property in Sichuan province. The 492-room Sheraton Jiuzhaigou Hotel opened in October 2000 as Jiuzhaigou International Hotel.

The hotel is situated in the popular nature reserve area of Jiuzhaigou, serving both leisure and incentive travellers. The mountainous area was admitted to the Unesco World Heritage List in 1992 and it is a haven for many plant and animal species. Jiuzhaigou international airport is scheduled to open in September 2003, offering direct flights to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
