APL forms new joint venture

APL Logistics of Singapore has formed a joint venture for motor vehicle and parts distribution throughout China. Its partners are Minsheng Industrial, a shipping group, Changan Automobile Group and Wanyou Group (Southwest). The new venture, CMWAL, will build a regional distribution centre in Chongqing, initially for Ford and Suzuki, and has also been selected as lead logistics provider for Changan.

Earlier this year, APL Logistics formed a joint venture with China's leading domestic computer manufacturer, Legend Group, for IT logistics. Last year it signed deals with Eastern China Railway Express and road company Shenyang Transportation Group.
