An explosion in front of a bank in Haicheng city in Northeast China's Liaoning province killed two people and injured 17 others on December 1. A suspect with a remote control and detonators was arrested. His aim was to steal RMB 220,000 (US$26,500), according to the local police. They said the explosion had nothing to do with social unrest and the city is still safe for tourists.
