Shangri-la expanding

Shangri-la Hotels and Resorts announced that it will open 11 hotels in China before 2006. In January 2004 it plans to open a hotel in Zhongshan, Guangdong province. In Shanghai, the second phase of the Shangrila Pudong is scheduled to commence operations in 2005 and Shangri-la West in the Jingan District is slated for 2006. The company will also open a hotel in Fuzhou, Fujian province, by 2006. The four hotels will cost an estimated total of US$330 million. Shangri-la is also planning on expanding in Beijing, Xi'an, Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, Sanya, Changzhou and Chengdu.
