Pipeline planned for Guangdong

An oil pipeline projected to cost US$363 million is scheduled to begin pumping oil from Guangdong province's western regions to 11 cities in the Pearl River Delta by the end of 2005, according to a report in the China Daily. Sinopec reportedly said that the Pearl River Delta refined oil pipeline project will cover more than 1,000 km in the province. Construction was scheduled to commence in mid-June in the city of Zhanjiang. Guangdong is China's top oil consumer, accounting for 13% of current national consumption of gas and diesel fuel.
