China likely to level more dumping charges

In the wake of a dumping ruling against US-based Corning and other optical fiber exporters, trade experts predicted China would be more active in protecting domestic producers, the International Herald Tribune reported. The ruling
followed an earlier Ministry of Commerce decision to maintain anti-dumping tariffs on South Korean, Russian and Taiwan steel exports. China's WTO entry lowered tariffs on imports, forcing the government to rely on lawsuits to protect domestic producers, Squire, Sanders Dempsey attorney James Zimmerman told the IHT. Robert Broadfoot, of Hong Kong-based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy, said China had learned to play the game.
