China Daily, quoting agency reports, said US and Chinese negotiators agreed to double the number of airlines flying between the US and the Mainland, and allow a nearly fivefold increase in flights within six years. The agreement also stipulates that US cargo airlines can establish hubs in China. The agreement followed four rounds of negotiations beginning in February. The last agreement, in 1999, doubled weekly US-China flights to 54 and allowed each country to use four instead of three carriers.
