The United States and China announced a new visa policy designed to ease business travel between both countries. Effective January 15, both sides will offer 12-month multiple-entry business and tourist visas up from six months. Both Chinese and US companies seeking to send mainland employees to the United States had complained of difficulty obtaining US visas in the wake of restrictions imposed by Washington after the 9-11 2001 attacks.
