Mine blast kills 25; 194 trapped

Twenty-fine miners were reported killed, and 194 trapped, following a coal-mine explosion Monday in Fuxin, in northeast China's Liaoning province. The Liaoning Coalmine Safety Supervision Bureau said the gas blast occurred 242m below the surface, stressing rescue operations commenced immediately. Officials said an investigation was launched but initial reports said nothing on prospects for recovering the trapped miners.
