China Construction Bank probes US$8mn loss

At least US$8mn is missing from a Jilin province branch of the China Construction Bank, the South China Morning Post reported. One or two bank officials are believed to have left China with the money, the paper reported, citing unnamed sources. The alleged theft follows reports of stolen funds by the manager of the Harbin branch of the Bank of China, another state-owned bank.
