China's human rights record improving: US

The US State Department said it will not introduce a resolution condemning China this year at the UN Human Rights Commission due to the "important and significant steps" by China to improve its human rights record. Although China still has "persistent systemic problems", Beijing is doing more to increase religious freedoms and showing more leniency towards political prisoners, a State Department spokesman said.
