Hitachi spins off R&D

Hitachi said it would establish a research and development company in Beijing as a spinoff of its Hitachi China's R&D group. Operations will begin in April with US$6m in initial capital. Hitachi said a Shanghai branch will open in June, adding that it would employ 80 R&D workers by year-end.
