Sixty-nine coal miners were reported trapped Sunday in a flooded mine in Northeast China's Jilin province. Officials said the flood was triggered by rainfall set off by cloud seeding. Days earlier, in Yuzhou, in Henan province, an illegally operated coal mine claimed eight lives in another accident. That left four miners missing, for a possible total of 12 fatalities, the same number a Chongqing mine accident claimed earlier in the week.
