McDonald's to supersize franchise

McDonald's Corp expects to grant at least 15 franchise licenses this year from among the more than 1,000 applications received since January, James Chu, senior vice-president of McDonald's China Development Co, told China Daily. McDonald's 670 outlets in China are corporate-owned, except for one franchise in Tianjin. By 2008, 10% of McDonald's projected 1,000 outlets in China will be operated by franchises, Chu said.
