Boeing, AVIC cos sign deals
3 June 2005
The Boeing Co yesterday signed contracts worth US$600m to purchase airplane components, including those for its new 787 Dreamliner, from affiliates of two state-owned manufacturers, China Aviation Industry Corp I and China Aviation Industry Corp II, according to media reports. The purchases will occur over more than a decade, with one of the contracts expiring 2021. Over the last 30 years, Boeing has bought US$550m in parts from China, and more than 3,500 Boeing airplanes, or one third of Boeing's world fleet, contain Chinese-made major parts.
