China, Kazakhstan agree on oil, gas

China and Kazakhstan have agreed to redouble their efforts to complete the Atasu-Alataw Pass oil pipeline as scheduled, expedite a pilot study on a natural gas pipeline between the two countries and construct a border economic cooperation center. State media reported that visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Kazakh counterpart, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed accords on Monday to strengthen cooperation in energy, economy, trade, transportation and finance, as China extends its reach into Central Asia
