General Motors has replaced Volkswagen as the No 1 foreign automaker in China, as the company and its Chinese joint ventures reported 308,722 vehicles sold in China between January and June this year, up 18.9% from a year ago. During the same period, Volkswagen sold 262,198 vehicles and said it is the sole automaker in China reporting retail sales, instead of sales made to dealers. Helped by robust sales, GM said it has a 10.9% market share in China compared to 9.4% at the end of last year.
