China could use nuclear option: Chinese General

If the US were to attack China in a conflict over Taiwan, Beijing could respond with nuclear weapons, according to a dean at China's National Defense University who spoke to a group of foreign journalists of his own assessment, not on behalf of Beijing, the Wall Street Journal reported. Maj Gen Zhu Chengdu does not have a policy-making role.
