Brokerage revenue falls 45%

China's brokerage firms posted a record 45% drop in revenue in the first six months of the year, reporting a combined revenue of US$1.15bn, down from US$2.11bn this time last year, the South China Morning post reported. Many of the 114 brokerages have applied for bailout loans from the central bank.
