Authorities return land to villagers

Local authorities in Hebei province have decided to return land to villagers after a bloody clash that left 6 dead and after a recent report pointed out the shortage of land versus the population of the village, state media reported. Over 200 armed thugs attacked the villagers on June 11 after the Shengyou villagers protested the decision to give their land to the Guohua Dingzhou Power Plant. 31 people have been arrested for their involvement in the clash and another 131 have been temporarily detained.
