FAW post less-than-expected profits

First Automotive Works (FAW), the Chinese partner of Volkswagen (VW) and Toyota said that it would not meet its profit target for 2005 due to squeezed profit margins in the fiercely competitive China car market. In a first-half that left many Chinese automakers posting reduced profits, FAW made US$2.18m in profits.
