27 July 2005
Beijing stopped the construction of 32 power projects located in Henan, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia because they did not comply with environmental and land-use regulations and because Beijing wanted to avoid overinvestment in generating capacity, Bloomberg reported, citing the National Development and Reform Commission. More than US$10m had already been spent on the projects which had a total capacity of 17.1m kw.
