Chinese 'night of shame'

A basketball game between China and visiting Puerto Rico was abandoned after it degenerated into a mass brawl that state media condemned as a "night of shame" that set a bad example for Beijing as the 2008 Olympic host. The fight broke out at the Beijing Capital Gymnasium Friday night after two Chinese players charged into the courts following a hard foul against a Chinese teammate by one of the Puerto Rican players. The fans also took part as they hurled plastic bottles, drinks, and popcorn at the Puerto Rican players.
