Top travel agent to set up a base in Guangzhou

Switzerland-based Kuoni Travel has applied to set up a wholly-owned travel agency in Guangzhou, state media reported. The company, one of the world's top five travel agencies, opened offices in Beijing and Shanghai earlier this year and is now looking to make Guangzhou the hub of its activities in China. Kuoni, which focuses on high-end tourism, brought to China last year more than 20,000 foreign visitors who spent about US$26 million.
