Murdoch's China empire hits "brick wall"

News Corp chief Rupert Murdoch said at a conference in New York that his company has "hit a brick wall",, cable in China, accusing Beijing of being "paranoid about what gets through", according to published media reports. Murdoch said Beijing was no longer opening up China's vast market to international media companies since its recent reversal of last year's liberalizing policies. Officials in China are investigating News Corp for alleged cooperation with unapproved local cable networks, the Wall Street Journal reported last month. Media companies are looking to expand in the world's biggest television market by viewers, where advertising sales are forecast to grow 33% to US$24 billion this year.
