Plastic tableware risks cancer

"Unsafe materials" used in plastic tableware risk cancer, said the China Packing Association after conducting a nationwide investigation, state media reported. More than half the disposable fast-food containers, bowls and spoons contain recycled plastic and materials such as talcum powder and calcium carbonate that can generate cancer-causing chemicals when in contact with hot food and oil, the report said.
