Tiger Woods visit will advance golf
9 November 2005
Chinese No 1 golfer Zhang Lian-wei, five-time winner on the Asian Tour, believes Tiger Woods' participation at this week's HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai will advance the spread of golf in China by a decade. "Young Chinese kids who don't know golf will want to learn the game," said Zhang. While growing fast, with the world's biggest golf complex in Guangdong province, the sport is still little played in China since the Beijing Country Golf Club opened the first course in 1990.
