Police crack down on IP offences

Chinese police are targeting food, medicine and brand-name products in a crackdown on intellectual property offences, said the Ministry of Public Security on its website. Police will also target mechanical and electric equipment, farm products, wine, soft drinks, cigarettes, cosmetics, daily necessities, costumes, bags, cultural and sporting goods, audio-visual products and publications. There have been 5,000 arrests in 2,991 cases and US$122 million in goods seized during the first 10 months of 2005.
