China buys Boeing planes

China has signed a letter of intent to purchase 70 Boeing 737 jetliners and pledged verbally to buy an additional 80 in a US$4 billion contract, The Wall Street Journal reported. The deal was announced jointly by the Chinese and US officials during US President George W Bush's visit to China. If the deal is consummated, it would be a record aircraft deal for the Boeing Co in China.
