Public service overstaffed: poll

Two-thirds of Chinese people believe some government departments were overstaffed despite previous cutbacks, state media reported, citing a poll by Beijing-based agency Horizon Group. The survey of 4,128 people nationwide showed most respondents believed departments responsible for general affairs, reform and development, financial services and tourism should be cut back. However, public security, education, and communication agencies were thought to need more staff.
