New housing policies favoring middle- and low-income urban residents may be introduced by the end of the month, state media reported, citing comments from officials and insiders over the weekend. Under the new policies, cities will be encouraged to construct and lease out "low-cost houses" for low-income earners, officials said, and local governments will provide certain allowances for these tenants on rental fees. The new policies follow a series of measures in recent months to regulate the real estate market.
