Fox to enter cut-price China DVD venture

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is to announce a partnership with Zoke Culture Group, China's biggest legitimate DVD producer, to sell cut-price products in the country, the Financial Times reported. The news came as Rupert Murdoch, chairman of Twentieth Century Fox's parent company News Corp, completed a visit to China. Zoke chairman Guo Zilong has long insisted that the Hollywood habit of releasing DVDs at high prices some time after the movie appeared in cinemas will not work in a China market dominated by pirates. X-men, The Last Stand - sold for US$24 by Fox online but likely to be priced at less than US$3.80 by Zoke - is set to one of the partnership's first releases. News Corp is also in talks with local blog providers Bokee.com and BlogCN.com over possible partnership for its MySpace Internet social network in China, Reuters reported.
