Carmakers are among the most influential foreign-invested companies in China while telecommunications and technology firms have the edge in profitability, according to a new study. Southern Weekend surveyed 126 companies in mainland China, the South China Morning post reported, and found Volkswagen's Shanghai joint venture to be the most influential foreign-invested business in China. Motorola's mainland subsidiary was the second. Shanghai General Motors and Guangzhou Honda and Nissan (China) Investment followed. A profitability-only ranking put Motorola on the top rank, followed by Nokia Capital Telecommunications and then Shanghai General Motors. The study is the second annual survey by the mainland publishing group.
